Volunteer - Join us in making a difference where you travel.
Volunteering in race location areas when you travel to race can be incredibly rewarding. Not only does it allow you to give back to the local community, but it also allows you to immerse yourself in the area. When volunteering, you’ll often find yourself working and learning alongside local experts, park rangers, and conservationists, further deepening your connection to the region. Not to mention you’ll be surrounded by beautiful scenery and views in areas sometimes only accessible by volunteering.Â
This year we’ll have four opportunities to get involved (specific details below) ranging from seed collecting to hogan building and more. So make some rewarding memories by volunteering some of your time before or after your race to help make a difference in the surrounding community. It’s a win-win.
Check out our upcoming 2023 Events below!
We have TWO volunteer opportunities at the Antelope Canyon Ultras. On March 10th, we will be building a hogan, and on March 12th, we’ll be at the finish line area helping to relocate a hogan. Volunteering to help build hogans with the Navajo this March is a unique opportunity to give back to the community you’re visiting for your run. While giving your time, you will also have the opportunity to learn about and immerse yourself in Navajo culture. Building a hogan is a traditional and vital aspect of Navajo culture. Participating in the construction, you will be helping Navajo community members and future visitors looking to deepen their understanding of the cultural heritage. We can’t wait to see you there, regardless of which day you sign up for.
Option #1 – Hogan building on Thursday March 9th from 10:00-5:00 pm
Option #2 – Hogan moving on Sunday March 12th (near the finish line) from 9:30-?
As a special thank you, our friends over at Vacation Races are giving a $100 VR Race Credit for those who volunteer at one day and a $200 VR Race Credit for those who participate at both. PLUS, anyone who participates will received priority access to register for 2024 Antelope Canyon Ultras!
Further details will be provided after registering.
Please note we need a minimum of 10 participants each day to be able run the opportunities. If you would like to donate to help offset the cost of building materials. Please donate here:Â https://www.wanderproject.org/donate-to-wander-project/
